SIM Women is a network inside the SIM national association that promotes mentorship, communication, and career development amongst the female members of SIM. We are excited to host our next webinar on Wednesday, June 24th at 3pm ET.

AI governance is no longer just a policy, risk, or technology discussion. As AI becomes part of everyday business processes, leaders need a clearer way to manage how AI is used, who is accountable for its outcomes, and how value and risk are measured.

Many of the challenges with AI do not appear in the model itself. They show up in the business: unclear ownership, inconsistent processes, weak data confidence, fragmented oversight, and limited visibility into whether AI-enabled decisions are producing the intended outcomes.

This session will examine what it takes to make AI governance practical for business leaders. We will discuss how organizations can define accountability, strengthen trust in the data and outputs, evaluate risk, and measure whether AI is delivering meaningful value.

Regardless of your level within an organization, this webinar will help you understand what needs to be discussed and why YOU should be among the leaders navigating AI governance.

Our Speaker: George Trujillo is an Austin Chapter SIM member who leads the ReThink Everything AI Governance subgroup. He is also an independent consultant, data and AI strategist, keynote speaker, and published author. He brings 20 years of experience in architecting data ecosystems for real-time AI, generative AI, and analytics. George helps organizations operationalize data and AI governance, develop digital transformation strategies, master data management, increase data literacy, and leverage real-time and generative AI platforms and methodologies. He is currently focused on helping organizations leverage generative AI and begin the transition from linear to exponential growth.

RTE typically looks 3 to 5 years ahead — time enough to watch, learn, and prepare. Post-quantum cryptography doesn’t fit that pattern.

The algorithms capable of breaking today’s encryption already exist. Quantum computers powerful enough to use them are still years away. But the preparation window for enterprises — migrating cryptographic infrastructure, updating identity systems, securing long-lived data — is measured in years too. Organizations that wait for the threat to materialize will find the window has closed.

In this session, Dr. Michael Tagscherer, Group CTO at Giesecke+Devrient, brings a practitioner’s perspective that goes well beyond the NIST standards. Drawing on G+D’s experience securing some of the world’s most critical digital infrastructure — across financial systems, government identity programs, and connected devices — he will cut through the noise on timelines, separate what your vendors will genuinely cover from what requires your own active decisions, and share what organizations that have already started look like compared to those that haven’t.

Dr.-Ing. Michael Tagscherer is Group CTO of Giesecke+Devrient, responsible for the company’s technological direction and long-term innovation. He has held global leadership roles at G+D since 2001, with deep expertise in AI, cybersecurity, and post-quantum cryptography. He holds a degree in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), with a focus on applied AI and machine learning. Dr. Tagscherer serves on several technology advisory boards.
