Baker has a commitment to inspiring people like you and organizations just like yours to
take meaningful action. From podcast producer and author to founder and speaker, Jacqueline occupies
spaces to help you embrace your inner leader, confidently advance to your next level, and Just Start™
the things you want to do.
Jacqueline founded Scarlet Communications, a global leadership consultancy, in 2012. With thousands
of students, Fortune 500s, and community organizations across the globe, Jacqueline makes a
meaningful impact with a modern, relatable, and digestible approach to leadership content creation and
delivery. She evangelizes that leadership isn’t just a skill or concept reserved only for those in executive
roles, but that we all have the power to lead in our own unique ways across both social and professional
settings. Her first book, Leader by Mistake: Becoming a Leader One Mistake at a Time, shows how you
too can find your inner leader by learning from your mistakes and homing in on the skills you already
possess, to lead confidently. Her newest book, The Unexpected Leader: Discovering the Leader Within
You, delivers an incisive and actionable discussion of how to refine, define, and elevate leadership by
absorbing lessons from other leaders and actualizing the leader within.
Prior to launching Scarlet, Jacqueline spent nearly a decade serving in corporate leadership roles
supporting companies like AT&T, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, and AAA of Michigan. Her most recent
corporate role as VP of Startup Programming at AARP Innovation Labs provided a unique opportunity to
discover disruptive startups across the globe and identify ways to collaborate with one of the nation’s
largest nonprofits. She also aided in the leadership development of these startup organizations.
Jacqueline also supports leadership opportunities in the corporate governance space as she serves as an
independent corporate board member at Plastipak Packaging on the Functional Leadership
Development Committee.
Jacqueline holds two degrees from Wayne State University, a Bachelor of Arts in public relations and a
master’s of education in instructional technology with specializations in interactive technologies and
performance improvement. She is a graduate of the Protocol School of Washington, with a focus on
international etiquette and protocol, and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certification in process
improvement, which she uses to help clients develop systems and processes that will allow them to
reach their strategic planning and leadership development goals.
Jacqueline also hosts the podcast, Just Start™: From Ideas to Action. Every chance she gets, she is an
avid dinner party host and loves to convene meaningful groups of people for great conversation, idea
sharing, and accountability, paired with delicious cuisine and wine.
Because of Jacqueline’s work in the leadership and modern etiquette space, she has been recognized by
several fine publications and organizations, including Essence Magazine, Medium, Ambassador
Magazine, McDonald’s and Michigan Chronicle/Michigan FrontPage and on NBC, Detroit Public TV, CBS
and Metro Parent Magazine
