Biography 2024 Oregon CIO of the Year, Andrea Ballinger, MBA Vice Provost and Chief Information Officer at Oregon State University Andrea Ballinger is an executive IT leader and strategist known for leading high-performing teams, developing strategic visions, and aligning technology investments with business goals. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, she has held senior roles including CTO, CIO, COO, and CEO. Throughout her career, Andrea has successfully led IT operations, transformations, and strategies, building high-achieving teams and managing complex projects. As Vice Provost and CIO at Oregon State University, Andrea provides strategic leadership for the university’s IT environment, supporting its teaching, research, and administrative activities. She oversees the IT community across the university, ensuring the delivery of essential technologies and services. Before joining Oregon State, Andrea served as Associate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Louisiana State University, guiding IT investments and strategies across multiple campuses. She has also held leadership positions at the University of Illinois Alumni Association, Illinois State University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she modernized IT ecosystems by implementing ERPs, CRMs, and business intelligence systems. Prior to her career in higher education, Andrea spent 10 years in banking and finance, where she served as Vice President of Operations at a large Midwest bank and played a key role in mergers and acquisitions. Andrea is passionate about reimagining the student experience, building diverse and inclusive IT teams, leveraging analytics for decision-making, and achieving operational excellence.
