Join Us for the Annual SIM Portland Scholarship Recognition & Gala, a signature SIM Portland event you won’t want to miss!

Featuring keynote “Climbing Without a Ladder” with Jerry Walker

Since 2003, SIM Portland has proudly invested in the future of our profession by awarding over $1 million in scholarships to outstanding college seniors pursuing degrees in Business Information Systems (BUS/MIS) and related degrees from our region’s top universities.

This year, we’re excited to host over 50 students and faculty members from four local universities. It’s your chance to connect, celebrate, and be inspired by the next generation of IT leaders.

Whether you're a seasoned professional or a new member, this gala is the perfect opportunity to show your support, expand your network, and enjoy a night of recognition, conversation, and celebration.

We hope to see you there!

Climbing Without a Ladder

Life rarely follows a straight path—especially in the world of technology. In this keynote, Jerry Walker shares his inspiring journey from uncertainty and setbacks to leading IT strategy for one of Oregon’s most critical financial institutions. Drawing from personal experiences, he will explore the challenges he faced, the resilience he built, and the pivotal moments that shaped his career.

For students on the brink of their own professional journeys, his story serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, adaptability, and continuous growth. For IT leaders, it’s a reminder of the impact we have in shaping the next generation. Whether you're just starting out or guiding others along the way, this keynote offers practical insights on overcoming obstacles, seizing opportunities, and forging a meaningful career in technology.
